Kim Atkinson spent several years working at CCF in Namibia in the 1990s assisting with daily operations and education programs, followed by a year at Cheetah Outreach outside of Cape Town as a facility and outreach manager. After returning to Canada, Kim assisted in founding Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada in the year 2000. Kim is of firm belief that Canada has an important role in the long-term survival of the cheetah.
Vanessa is an award-winning photographer as well as a graphic and web designer based in Ottawa. She is also an avid traveler and became a travel agent in 2015 in order to organize and host photography tours as well as help people plan the perfect trip. After a special encounter with a cheetah during a visit to a rehabilitation centre in South Africa, Vanessa reached out to help the Cheetah Conservation Fund of Canada and has provided her support to develop and launch the new website in 2016.
Cynthia is a writer and marketing consultant based in Vancouver, B.C. She’s passionate about conservation, community engagement, coffee, and of course, cats.
Artem is a Russian-Canadian communication skills instructor, linguist, and aspiring writer based in Edmonton, Alberta, and has been volunteering for Cheetah Canada since April 2017.
Bente Nielsen was from Aurora, Ontario and since childhood grew up with many animals. She has a deep-rooted love for dogs, especially Jack Russell Terriers, and horses. Her passion for animals has grown from rescue to wanting to help animals dwindling in the wild survive and not become extinct. Bente believes that helping the cheetah is good for the eco-system and therefore, believes in the Cheetah Canada purpose.
Jan believes the work of the Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada is incredibly important and she is excited to be writing for such a proactive team of conservationists. A professional writer with a background science and journalism, Jan works with government health programs and writes freelance articles, content and social media. She has a B.Sc. in Cellular, Molecular and Microbial Biology and a B.A. in Journalism and Creative Writing.
